CoolRooms Maldà is a House-Palace located in the heart of the medieval Barcelona, in the Gothic Quarter. Just a step from the incredible Cathedral of Barcelona and Las Ramblas Street, also very close to the elegant avenue Paseo de Gracia, with its amazing buildings designed by Gaudí, as well as the best luxury shops.
CoolRooms Atocha, originally the 1852 palace of D. Nemesio Sancha, senior official of Ministry for Overseas territories and Knight by Order of Carlos III, used to house a hermitage and a convent. Nowadays, its 35 rooms are the authentic witness of a palatial energy mixed with the most sober and contemporary design.
The walls of CoolRooms’ building are witnesses of the time passing and of the appearance of the luxury in Madrid. The entrance, guarded by the figure of the god Hermes, stands for the nobility of the building and its passage of carriages, with imposing 7 meters high roofs. This entrance leads to a beautiful secret garden with pool.
The iconic Suite 19, our current event room, is perfectly preserved and kept its original aspect, apart from furnitures and draperies, with splendid walls decorated with painted walls probably coming from the famous Royal Madrid Factory and considered as cultural and heritage interest. Its chimney front is made of white Carrara marble and golden moldings in a recreation of the Louis XVI style.
CoolRooms Maldà is located in a 17 th century refurbished building in the heart of the Medieval Barcelona, in the Gothic Quarter. The building is a former palace, which, during more than 300 years, was home of an old Catalan noble family: Barons of Maldà. Nowadays its 17 rooms are the perfect fusion between history and contemporary design.
The Baroque style building was built in Barcelona for the Cortada family in during the 17 th century in Pino Street. The building is composed of a ground floor and two more floors. It used to belong to the Barons of Maldá and Maldanell. The writer Rafael de Amat and Cortada, better known as Baron of Maldà, lived and wrote its major work named Calaix de Sastre. During the 19 th century, after a marriage agreement, the building became the property of The Marquises of Castellbell.
After the Spanish Civil War the buiding became cinemas, shopping gallery and homes. In the 1980s. En el Palacio también se encuentran los cines Maldá y las Galerías Maldá. Hoy el Palacio es considerado bien de interés cultural local de la ciudad de Barcelona y CoolRooms Maldà ocupa los dos pisos superiores.
A concert hall and a theater named Maldá Circle have been set up. In our palace can be found Maldà cinemas and Maldà Gallery. Today, this palace is considered local cultural interest in the city of Barcelona and CoolRooms Maldà occupies the two upper floors.
