Palacio de Luces is Asturias’s best-kept secret. A restored and recently refurbished palace from the 16th century, surrounded by 13.000 m2 of gardens and only 2 kilometres away from the charming seaside village of Lastres, one of the most beautiful villages in Spain.
Between the Cantabrian Sea and the Picos de Europa Mountains, in a privileged natural setting, among forests of yews, beeches, cherry trees, pines and hollies, this hotel is the ideal place to break away from the daily routine, far away from noise and pollution. Palacio de Luces is the place to connect with nature, find peace and enjoy unforgettable moments.
It has 44 rooms, an Asturian-cuisine restaurant, big spaces for events, an old chapel, several terraces to enjoy the surroundings and a wellness area, which includes a massage room, saunas and a heated pool.
The 44 rooms, distributed between the 16th-century palace and a contemporary annexed building, are an extension of the landscapes framed by their windows and gardens. You will be able to enjoy fabulous views from all the rooms, from the palace gardens to the Lastres Bay, the Sueve Mountain Range, the Cantabrian Sea and the Picos de Europa Mountains.

The experiences this wonderful location offers also carry the stamp of its nature, a perfect stage for exciting quad excursions, hikes to the Pienzu Peak, surfing lessons, gastronomic experiences and even golfing at one of its neighbouring courses.
In addition, you will be able to enjoy traditional local activities with the neighbours from Colunga, such as making fishing nets or going out to sea with a fisherman from the Lastres’ port and even preparing anchovies at the preserved fish factory next to the palace. There is an endless string of possibilities to get to know Asturias, its culture, its gastronomy and its people through memorable and personalised stays.
It's an R1C; that says it all This was our second visit to this wonderful little gem of a hotel. Since our first visit they have made further improvements which made it even more enjoyable. The rooms are understated luxury and the restaurant has wonderful views of the mountains in the distance. The one list is a little limited but we found what made us happy. We used this as a base to visit the surrounding area and spectacular coast line.
Great hotel , great food , great attention to details Great rooms with superb service . The restaurant had amazing food with great wine selection. The hotel was beautifully decorated with flowers and a wonderful Christmas Tree that made us feel right at home.
Beautiful! The bucolic setting elevated as you drive through the gates to the small, charming property. The hotel -Impeccable, unpretentious. The restaurant- wow! Farm to table vegetables off the charts delicious made perfect by the personable and knowledgeable Ezequiel and Cira who helped us navigate the menu and Asturias like pros!!Do not miss truffled ravioli, Asturian Fabada and garden tomato with smoked fish salad!Thank you Ezekiel! We look forward to seeing you upon our return.
Best Hotel in Northern Spain Beautiful hotel in quiet location among local villages. Staff were very friendly and professional. Food was excellent with varied choice of local food.Swimming pool and gardens were welcome after long day walking.Would travel out of our way to stay again felt very special.
Stylish hotel (but not a chateau) We spent a very nice two days at this hotel. Excellent and friendly service. Prompt response to our online questions. It might not be the "Relais & chateau" you expect, since it is quite modern. But OTOH it is stylishly furnished.Electric car chargers, very convenient in this part of Spain.Of course one could nitpick over some details, as in any hotel. Did not bother us much. What's not to like? The restaurant, bar and breakfast are very good but pretty expensive. We thought the room price was fair.We would go back.
A real treat This hotel is immaculate. The public areas are very well appointed and stylish and rooms are large and well equipped. Lovely setting with wonderful view from the restaurant. The staff are extremely helpful. The restaurant is excellent but pricey as is the bar! €16 for a gin and tonic!
Wonderful experience My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Palacio de Luces. The reception staff were really friendly, professional and helpful, booking us in on very short notice. The hotel has been recently refurbished, the rooms and facilities are spectacular, clean, bright with a modern design integrating nicely some of the original palace elements. The hotel decoration is attractive and tastefully done. The countryside but very accessible location is beautiful with great views over the fields to the mountains. The location is 2 km from the sea, allowing for some nice local walks/hikes to the close cliffs and nearby Llastre for excellent dining. The hotel restaurant has great views over the countryside, the food is excellent, leaning towards designer cuisine and a little on the expensive side for our taste. The hotel American Bar offers alternative dining facilities. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout. The location is a great place to relax or to use as a base for hiking trips to the nearby National Parks. We had a memorable time and will be back asap.
The best hotel in our 2 week trip We stayed for 3 nights at this hotel, we had 4 rooms. All the rooms were great, renovated, very clean and very large. The hotel is in a very quiet location and close to many wonderful towns in Asturias. The food was great, breakfast was served at your table and included in the room price. We had dinner twice at the bistro and once at the restaurant and they were all fantastic.Service was great everywhere, we truly enjoyed our stay, we would of liked to stay more days.
Summer holidays This was my first trip to the North, and this Palacio was the best adress, Asturias is like heaven, you can enjoy beach, rivers, mountains, green lands, the views are just amazing,it can rain also and be sunny the same day, the food is very yummy, especially fish restaurants, pple living there are very kind and helpful most of them are fishersThe Palacio of Luces was very impressive: calm, clean and all the staff was very kind and helpful and smiling all the time, the food is very good also.Rooms are nice and the views from there are just awsome.I would like to go back there again.Thank you
Beautiful hotel in a beautiful Town We got to this hotel selected the same day looking for something different and was right on point is a 16 century center Palace and amazing nature around the property. Rooms are spacious & comfortable. It has a world class restaurant. You can visit this place with your kids and family for days.
Marvelous Palacio de Luces was such a wonderful choice for a night in northern Spain. It's location in Asturias is breathtaking, with views of the Sierra del Sueve mountains and inviting gardens. Even on a rainy afternoon, we were delighted with the scenery surrounding the Palacio. Our rooms were large and handsome, with cozy chairs to sit for a cup of tea, and an enormous bathroom. Amenities in the hotel include a sauna and pool, a piano bar, and many quiet seating areas around the hotel. The restaurant was fabulous and the waitstaff extremely attentive. Two of us chose the absolutely outstanding fresh catch of the day, matched by the succulent pork loin and the always wonderful ham croquettes. Of course, the wine was an excellent Rioja. Every member of the staff was as helpful as they could be, with one young man just coming on duty in the morning rushing out to wish us a good trip during the rest of our time in Spain. All in all, Palacio de Luces would be a must-return for me.
A stunning hotel but .... This hotel is breathtaking when you walk in - the architect has done a wonderful job joining a light modern extension on to the original house. The light streams through the windows and the wide open corridors, the dining room has amazing views from all its large glass windows and you can’t wait to arrive at your bedroom. This is one of the problems to me as the rooms have much smaller windows which means they feel dark in comparison to the public areas and really have restricted views almost as though another architect has designed them. (Interestingly all the photos of the bedrooms in their brochure are taken at night with the curtains closed). Sadly l felt no warmth in the hotel or the staff who just seemed to be doing their job but not really enjoying it. There was no place to curl up with a book and read in the sun as the only chairs outside were near the bar and you felt that if they had put sun loungers on the grass you would have messed up the immaculate grounds. Everywhere although beautiful felt very cold & clinical and although the breakfasts were a magnificent spread & delicious you did feel that the hotel was designed for weddings & corporate events. Regardless of this it is still a five star hotel and we enjoyed our stay.
Elegant & luxurious Our recent 4 night say was excellent. The hotel is an historic building with a sympathetic modern extension. The location is in peaceful countryside yet only a 5 minute drive from the pretty village of Lastres with a beach and bars/restaurants.I booked a standard double which was spacious & elegantly furnished with a huge bathroom. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. It did not have a patio or terrace but there was a lovely view. There are many sitting areas scattered throughout the hotel both indoors & outdoors as well as an inviting bar. There is a wellness suite & I made use of the indoor pool which is a good size for a hotel. The breakfast buffet was good with plenty of choice. The dining room has a jaw dropping huge glass facade with a view of the Picos. We ate dinner here twice. Not a huge choice on the menu but dishes well cooked & nicely presented. It is trying to be a fine dining experience. Expect to pay at least €100 for a dinner for 2.All of the staff are helpful & attentive without being too obtrusive. We very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend.
Absolutely top class Wonderful setting, our room was a corner room with stunning views of the ever changing mountains. The room was very spacious and the bathroom area huge. Spotlessly clean. Delightful and thoughtful staff. Calm and quiet at all times. Excellent swimming pool. Great looking gym and spa. The meals were really to look forward to. The few other guests were also delightful. Very highly recommended.
An absolute delight We loved this hotel, beautifully appointed, calm, peaceful, superb. Only one minor grumble though. Being a coeliac and being informed this was not a problem, I was brought an amuse bouche which did contain gluten! I spotted it and didn't eat it thankfully. Also our bottle of local Asturian white wine was not pre-cooled and therefore only reached the correct temperature at the end of the meal! Our two courses were delicious, well prepared and served.
