Palacio de Luces belonged to the Victorero family, an aristocratic family that had held the title for many generations after fighting in the Reconquest conflicts. The Victorero family, which had abandoned the military and war functions at the beginning of the 16th century, resided in the nearby beach of La Griega, where they were involved in trade and fishing activities.
The Discovery of America and the noble condition of the family made them promptly initiate a trade with the Indies and part of the family travelled to Mexico in search of fortune and opportunities. Therefore, when the entailed state was founded in our palace, the family was already very close and related to people living in the Indies.
The palace shows its surroundings proudly through big glass walls, bay windows and high dining halls, while also showing off its origins and influences of the Indies in every detail.
Rather than competing with them, the walls in the newer rooms are meant to be an extension of the landscapes visible through the windows. The landscapes speak of the past and the feats of their previous inhabitants. They tell us about Asturian scenes and about those new ones they discovered in the Indies and brought back in their botanic treaties or exotic plants that served as decoration for their gardens.
All rooms are no-smoking, except for the ones with garden, where smoking is allowed on the private terrace.
