We checked in for 5 nights in a premium room. We arrived late eve and the check in was swift and kind (offered a delicious glass of cava upon arrival).Soon we were shown to our premium category room (room 112) which was right at the front of the entrance to the courtyard just up a few steps, it was where only one other room was and was sort of a 'half floor". This was apparent when entering the room as the windows were only floor to knee height. I have not seen anything like this before, but I guess it's the style of the old building. I did not see any of the other rooms in the hotel, but i assume that most which are on normal floors (first, 2nd, 3rd) have full windows so this might be a consideration if you dont want to feel too 'claustrophobic' with this, and the fact the windows could not be opened.Sadly, the room was also very noisy, of course, in an old-style building, this is expected, but we could literally hear conversations and noise from outside our door and people walking above. Would have been better if they could have reinforned the bedroom door to a thicker style to help some of this. Speaking of doors, the bathroom is an 'open style' so no privacy when showering (the shower faces the bedroom with just a normal glass screen) and when using the loo, this is just with frosted glass and also faces into the room. This might be a consideration for some people when booking. Aside from this, we loved the room, it was spaciuos and had many modern touches (GHD hair dryers and straigheners, a bluetooth speaker, Lowve TV and a steamer- all super useful). The roofdeck is small but there are enough beds and chairs to enjoy some time up there without the space ever really getting too busy (April). The bar area is also really nice on the ground floor, with 3 seperate seating areas offered (inside and out).To summairse:Positives: The building itself, spacious rooms with modern touches, nice roof desk for tanning & small plunge pool for cooling off, location (walkable to everywhere), some of the staff.Negatives: For a 5* certain things did not quite deserve this rating. In the bar they repeatedly ran out of drinks, even night 1 they were unable to make a cocktail which was on the menu, so why by night 4 did they not replenish missing ingredients so it was possible?, service was slow (to order lunch to terrace and to make drinks at bar), the food offered in the hotel was tasteless (did not try main restaurant).Despite some negatives i would still recommmend this hotel to others, and hope that these small issues could be easily fixed for future guests.
